“Poulnabrone”
"In the County Clare there is about one
hundred-fifty square miles of Limestone Karst called the “Burren”.
Translated from the Irish 'bhoireann', which means a ‘stony place’,
you’ll agree that this is an apt description as the entire region is
akin to a magical moonscape! Near the small village of Carron sits
one of Ireland’s most famous Dolmens - a Portal Grave burying place
- called the ‘Poulnabrone’ Dolmen. Translated again from the Irish,
it means something like ‘the hole of our sorrow’. Since roughly 2500
years BC. this imposing structure sheltered the earthly remains of
approximately 30 people, ranging in age from newborn to young
adults.
A place of sorrow, indeed."
The Original painting is Oil on Belgian Linen,
and the canvas size is 20 x 24. With the soft antiqued silvery-gold
frame the piece measures roughly 24 x 28. Very nice!
Price is $ 1,200.00 which includes any applicable tax AND shipping.
